(News) Japan's Bandai corporation and creative anime studio Sunrise announced that they will jointly develop a small theme park called Gundam Front Tokyo. The new theme park is designed to further develop the Gundam business and product sales. The new Japan-based theme park will be located on the 7th floor of the Diver City Tokyo Plaza, a 22-story multi-purpose facility at the Tokyo Waterfront Area which includes leased office space, retail facilities, and an event plaza.

The park is slated to open on April 19, 2012 and will feature state of the art 'experience' and interactive spaces on the Gundam series. The new indoor park will be further supported by a GUNDAM Café shop on the second floor and a massive statue of the robot at the building entrance, the company announced. Some of the areas will be freely accessible, Bandai stated.

The Gundam TV Series is developed by Sunrise studios that features giant robot suits that battle it out with each other. The series were first show in 1979 and the franchise value of the series is estimated to be around 50bn Yen (US$650 million).
