Anaklia in Georgia welcomes waterpark development

(News) Anaklia, presented the status of a city in August 2011 by the country of Georgia's president, will welcome a waterpark to the Anaklia City Resort, a luxurious seaside resort on the Black Sea. Designed by WhiteWater's in-house team of architectural design experts, AquaPark Anaklia will feature one of WhiteWater's newest waterslides, the Constrictor. This will be the first in the region.

The Constrictor's flume expands from 4.5 feet (1.3 m) to 7 feet (2.1 m) and back again, delivering a spine-tingling series of spirals which allow riders to experience the tightest, highest banking turns in the industry, according to WhiteWater.

Anticipated to open August 2012, AquaPark Anaklia will also offer a host of WhiteWater attractions including the Master Blaster, Family Rattler, Boomerango, the AquaPlay AP350, AquaLoop, and a family wave pool, amongst others.

Established in 1980, WhiteWater is a global leader in waterpark design, engineering, manufacturing and installation, with more than 30 years of expertise, 4000 projects completed, over 500 employees and 16 offices worldwide.

Alton Towers Resort announced that construction has been completed on its roller coaster, The Smiler. The coaster is the most impressive addition to Alton Towers Resort, costing over UK£18m to build across an 8-month construction period. More than 16,000 tons of soil was moved to make way for the 700 tons of steel to build the 165-second ride. (Story)
