(News) After 35 years of history, Walibi, with parks in Belgium, France and The Netherlands, announced that it would introduce a new look.  Souces state that the company will invest some 15 million euro in the re-branding and upgrading exercise. If the new logo is a base for the change-over, Walibi will be introducing a more modern and up-to-date look for its parks and associated products.  The famous kangaroo will remain, but look different to the previous character.

New Disneyland in Shanghai to get own subway station

(News) An article in the Shanghai Daily states that the city will build a specially designed subway line to take visitors to the theme park, which is set to open in 2015.  Construction on the new underground line, which will stretch just over 9 kilometers in length, will start in September of this year and cost around US$600 million.  Disneyland, which will be part of a larger holiday resort near Shanghai, is expected to attract some 7.3 million visitors annually.

(News) The Efteling theme park, located in Kaatsheuvel, The Netherlands announced that it had received 4 million visitors in 2010, matching their record year figures from 2009, according to Omroep Brabant, a Dutch news channel.  The park, which was open throughout most of the year, hired an additional 200 people to support the visitor flow.  The Efteling park aims to increase its visitor numbers to 5 million by 2020, Omroep Brabant announced here.

(News in the margin) It's official, the Efteling theme park in The Netherlands has the country's tastiest sandwich.  The Efteling's Hotel chef, Corstiaan van Lent, won first prize at a competition held in Amsterdam with his "Fishy Dutchman".  The sandwich is a traditionally baked bun with a mackerel croquette and lemon mayonnaise.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission to introduce freely accessible complaints database

Center Parcs UK predicts bumper January

Alton Towers Resort announced that construction has been completed on its roller coaster, The Smiler. The coaster is the most impressive addition to Alton Towers Resort, costing over UK£18m to build across an 8-month construction period. More than 16,000 tons of soil was moved to make way for the 700 tons of steel to build the 165-second ride. (Story)
